Files Check

ATTENTION:

This function needs to be activated first.

In this section, folders to be monitored can be specified in order to generate dedicated access logs, with control over read, write, and delete operations. All subfolders and contained files are included in the monitoring scope.

Integration with NetApp

In the case of integration with NetApp ONTAP systems, in the File Control section it is necessary to configure the root folders to be monitored.

For each path, it is possible to specify which operations to control:

  • Read

  • Write

  • Delete

NetApp can record the file path in different formats compared to Windows file servers.
For example, the same folder can be reported in the logs in one of the following ways:

  • /Folder to monitor/

  • /Data/Folder to monitor/

  • /DISK-D/Data/Folder to monitor/

BusinessLog recognizes the events produced by NetApp and correctly associates them with the configured folders, even when the path is recorded with different structures.

In this way, it is possible to configure the root folder to be monitored and still obtain correct recognition of the events detected in the NetApp logs.

NOTE: Avoid excessive use of this function to prevent the generation of millions of access logs per day.

ATTENTION:

For Windows file servers, file control depends on enabling “Audit File System” in the advanced audit policy configuration.

For NetApp ONTAP systems, instead, events are acquired through the EVTX log files configured in the Settings > Plug In section.

For other systems or devices, it is necessary to verify the availability of equivalent controls and the possibility of exporting them in a compatible format.
